Listen, laugh, the radio play is still alive
Radio Plays
An old art form, but news to me
I had written plays but not for radio. Then I discovered the radio plays of the late Irwin Gonshak, a radio producer, writer and director for over 50 years, and currently the impressario of Everything Goes, a program on WNYE-FM, 91.5, which provides a unique and innovative showcase to musicians, literati, and historians. Irwin had been writing radio plays with an educational bent, covering a variety of issues including environmental pollution, the holocaust, and protection of wildlife.
Irwin and Emon Hassan, the founder and director of the Hassberry Theater Company, collaborated to produce the New York Short Radio Play Festival, which first aired in the summer of 2005. The talented Emon and his superb troupe of actors, brought my two radio plays "A Brand is Born" and "Mind Games" to life.
